A critic of “it” Areas of Nairobi
August 10, 2009
I have to wirite about my hood first as of course I love it;
Close to the CBD, close to Yaya, close to internet, hospitals if someone falls over frequent in my home close to everywhere its the Denis Pritt Road. Our Caltex holds celebrities and is often papped by The Star, who likes the change of name I liked it when it was ours; NBI Star. I digress we have the Arboretum for walks and that place is not bad at all by the way you get to run with athletes chill by the river at the bottom climb trees illegally along the lovers lane in the mid section, watch singers and people praying. So there is that whole park scene.
South B and South C
Just totally have their own little culture and vibe, I love the houses all bright and each garden different. I love the africa chic that goes down there and the vibe, and the party creative vibe is undeniable.
Karen
is over rated. Black cotton that I watched Masai drag their cows out of in the rains goes for 8 million no way!! The infra structure sucks that road I loath via Dagoretti. The security is mad and sometimes the vastness of the place makes your ears ring its un natural and old fashioned.
Muthaiga
Now which Kenyan bred girl doesn’t covert a house in Muthaiga OLD they just scream lets have mad parties and buy loads of flamingos a couple of carousels and float around like the pages of fashion magazines. Dior of Nairobi.
Lavington
is pretty organized but fumes and that road to Waiyaki way is way too congested. Great mall now Chandarana has moved there and the grocers and butchers are hot.
Runda
Is another country… need I say more? Secure though.
Westlands
has vibe, food and a great sweet shop at Sarit but its a bit dated, I love up behind westgate, but westgate imagine if you wanted to shop in sweat pants after a run? Lol.
Kitengala
Has cheap property & I think its awesome with views over the park, the only park this big in a city, and the Horseman’s moved up there.
Ok this Zorb/ Human giant cool ball trip has hooked me.
August 10, 2009
Come on somebody out there; figure the figures on star jumping and this is so much hotter;
Known as our ‘astronaut-in-training’ ride, the ZORBIT ride is a head over heels adrenaline rush that will have you coming back for more. Strapped into the ZORB globe in a specially designed safety harness, you are sent on your trip down the hill rolling head over heels, heels over head as the ground and sky go whizzing past in a beautiful mosaic of blue… green … blue … green … blu … gree … blu … gre…bl…gr…b…g…bgbgbg…while your body is subjected to the soft and relaxing feeling of weightlessness and g-force.

I’ am thinking of getting myself one of these, seriously:

I think that’s a brilliant idea from Waskman Design Studio’s, the solar powered mobile home that perfect for anyone who could not leave the technology from them self. This home was made using white polyethylene panels and transparent polycarbonate, the home is consist of two floor structure with dimension 6 meters in length, 2.5 meters of width and 3.85 meters high. At a glance it organizes like a loft with an office room and kitchen space on the bottom floor and the second floor is a bedroom. This house especially designed for Vodafone and off course this house features the high end telecommunication devices such as phone and wireless internet service. Towed by patrol four wheel drive vehicle these houses enable to bring anywhere you need.

A house fit for a Princess…
July 29, 2009

Princess Zara Phillips bought this totally sweet home choosing it over this one;

I like it much better it looks, the top one, like a little cake : ) the one above is way too sterile for me.

Her present home is on her Mother’s estate Gatcombe above.
Happy Princess at £800,000 and looking like a romantic Gatsby style home who wouldn’t smile?
I know people clicked to buy a human sphere ball…
July 29, 2009
So cool please let me know if you buy as my boys would love to use them….look how well star jumping did….

ideas …. : )
I am thinking restoration on a major level if there is a staircase lets strip it back rub in linseed oil and go for this look;
Bare Bones tres glamorous.
I love this light and with all those enchanting rooms it would be perfect with fabulous gardens as the backdrop. The old school glamour look I am going with is represented in the table and silverware.
The bed the creams, chic mix old and soft. Simplicity in the house/ boutique. The old plane is gorgeous to.
Polished natural wooden floors, antique chairs from India, the hues flowing into one and other, shutters in just the right hues letting in the lovely garden light. The genius lies in the conection of tones hues and textures.
Chandeliers dramatic offset celebration of light. Tones all celebrating one and other perfect for my boutique hotel. Hints of Africana in the wall hangings.
open French doors, lime greens terracota… for the rooms. Gone with the wind style Glamor;
Is the way to go;

Set from Gone With The Wind

In Response To Andrew of The Stunning Lamu homes
July 27, 2009
Dear Andrew, Thank you for your email;
You do have some excellent new Lamu properties stunning click here.
You set me a challenge:
And with all your inside knowledge maybe you can help us out? We are looking for a new Nairobi base – preferably a 1/2 bed cottage or guest house in Karen/Langata to rent long term – but it’s proving hard to find something really nice and secure – we’ve checked out all the usual agents, notice boards etc – but if you hear of something suitable please do let us know…….
All the best, Andrew
This is so far and I HAVE TO ASK YOU TO HAVE NO COMPARISONS TO LAMU LOL
Nairobi is nitty gritty architecture but you grow to love it;

This looks sweet
Lovely one bedroom guest cottage (on property with main house) situated in central Karen. Lounge, open plan kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Fully furnished, including Television and DVD, inverter, generator.
Ideal for a single or couple. No dogs.
Ok personally the furniture brings this whole place down a little but I am sure they would move it. Plus points are the main house and security, price 60,000/- and without furniture might be cheaper..

Ok what you must focus upon the windows and the green outside.

Like the windows and the veranda would be fine with some jasmine / honeysuckle growing up it.
One bedroom cottage, 1 bathroom, lounge with open plan kitchen area. Veranda. Good security. Ksh.45,000 per month (all inclusive) – Also available for short lets.
So you could always try it out first! Short Lets… : )
